London is the stage for some of the most original and creative pieces of performance art in the world. Wait till you hear this one…
Remember the Wagatha Christie trial? That libel case turned mud-slinging competition between Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney… the same one that rewrote the book on celebrity court cases.
Well two very sardonic and *rather* genius minds have come together to put on a verbatim, one-night-only staging of the trial in the West End.
The aptly named: Vardy v Rooney: The Wagatha Christie Trial
Wagatha Christie Play: Who? What? When? Where?
Straight from the little grey cells of Lisa Spirling, Artistic Director of Theatre503, and Liv Hennessy, the play takes transcripts from behind the closed doors of the courtroom and reproduces them scene by scene and word for word.
Expect a salacious throwback to the seven days that consumed tabloid and public attention
Given the drama around the case, it’s almost no wonder that it ended up as a West End play. Remember Vardy’s schtick about dropping her phone in the North Sea. And how her tech “expert” forgot his password, as so couldn’t access the incriminating evidence.
It’ll all be there, and as the gals say, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
But where exactly is that where? And when?
Until today, the date and location were top secret, subject to as much speculation as what was said behind those courtroom doors.
They’ve just this morning been announced as the 15th of November at the Wyndhams Theatre.
See you in court.
