10 Miles: The Sustainable Supper Club Only Using Hyper-Local Ingredients

10 Miles is the Hackney-based supper club using ingredients from within a 10 mile radius.

What’s better than a good old supper club? The magic of dining within a community of like-minded foodies, from menus you know you just aren’t going to get elsewhere, a touch of the exclusive. It’s a winning combination.

A sustainable supper club – that’s what.

At 10 Miles Supper Club they’ve got a pretty interesting way of putting a sustainable philosophy into practice.

You may have clocked on from the name already, but all the food they serve comes from ingredients sourced from within a ten mile radius of the club’s location.

That puts self-confessed feeders, and co-founders Emily and Sarah in a tricky position – not to mention forcing them to get super creative with their cooking.

Their next event is on Friday the 11th of November. Here’s what you need to know.

The 10 Miles Supper Club’s menu is a four-course tale of East London sustainability…but what’s on it?

A nice meal wouldn’t be complete without a pre-dinner cocktail and this supper club’s no different.

To kick things off: a Rose Gin Fizz. Haggerston-based 58 Gin’s London Dry, infused with rose petals picked in the local area and topped with a raspberry soda.

For the first course a mushroom parfait from locally foraged mushrooms, and a wine reduction from low-intervention Blackbook Winery.

That’s followed by a celebration of the end of summer seasonal veg in the form of a tomato, courgette and cheese tart, with the veg coming from Sitopia Farm in Greenwich and the cheese from Bermondsey. We didn’t know such a thing existed but hats off to you Kappaceisin.

The main is a dish of meatballs, beetroot and chilli oil garnished with a host of greens and goodies. The pork comes from Stepney City Farm and is topped with rocket grown atop old shipping containers by the wonderful Crate to Plate.

But best of all is the addition of a sprinkling of fennel seeds grown in Emily’s very own garden. And yes, we can confirm she lives within ten miles of the supper club.

To top it all off: Apple Honey Cake with fig leaf ice cream. Need we say more?
