Best Street Food Markets in London
Best Street Food Markets in Central London
Borough Market
Borough Market is perhaps the most famous of all food markets in London. Why? Quite simply, it offers an amazing selection of fresh produce and street food options.
This is the food market that pretty much everyone thinks of when they think of the best food markets in London thanks to the diversity and quality of the stallholders.
It’s really hard to pick a favourite here but don’t miss Kappacasein for the best cheese toastie you’ve had in your life (I pinky promise).
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday: 10am to 5pm (Fridays until 6pm) Saturday: 8am to 5pm. Not all traders attend on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Berwick Street Market
Berwick Street Market is a small but much-loved market in Soho. As well as some scrumptious street food, there’s an assortment of other stalls selling items like jewellery and clothing.
One of the most loved stalls is Savage Salad, selling dishes that are both healthy and delicious. Win.
Opening Hours: The market is open from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
Closest Tube Stops: Tottenham Court and Oxford Circus.
Street Food Union Soho
Stop by Street Food Union Soho for some of the best street food in London, with a small group of passionate traders. There are many options, but I particularly love the New Orleans-inspired Slinging Poboys.
On Saturdays Street Food Union transforms itself into one of the best vegan food markets in London – packed with innovative and delicious eats.
Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday, 11am to 3pm.
Closest Tube stop is Piccadilly Circus, and Leicester Square is also close by.
Leadenhall Market
For almost 700 years, the undercover Leadenhall Market has been delighting shoppers with its food and other market stalls. One of the great historic food markets in London, it’s the perfect opportunity to grab some food in a gorgeous setting.
Don’t miss the scrumptious pasta bar of celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo for a drool-worthy carb-loaded feast.
What’s more, Leadenhall Market was also used for filming a few scenes in Harry Potter – can you guess which ones?
Opening Hours: The market area is open 24/7, however trading hours vary store by store.
Nearest Tube: Monument Station, about five minutes from the market.
Whitecross Street Market
Whitecross Street Market is a friendly and scrumptious market that’s a favourite amongst hard working locals, and has been serving up delicious food for over 150 years.
It’s still relatively unknown, tucked away behind The Barbican Centre, so the food here is unpretentious and on point.
Don’t miss long-time favourite Ravello’s Italian for some authentic Italian eats.
Opening Hours: The market is open Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm.
Closest Tube Stops: Old Street and Barbican Tube stations are about a five minute walk away.
Leather Lane Market
Despite its name, these days the 400-year-old Leather Lane Market is very much a food market first and foremost, with many great food stalls and cafes – a gem buried in London’s diamond capital, Hatton Cross.
There are so many stand-out options here in this lovely little market but I love the fresh and delicious sushi from Tajima-Tei.
Opening Hours: The market is open on weekdays from 10am to 2pm.
Closest Underground Stops: Chancery Lane and Farringdon, both of which are less than five minutes away on foot.
Southbank Market

Arcade Food Court at Centre Point
This spot is a bit of a giant in the food court game. It’s regularly packed out by hungry diners and has heaps of good offerings to choose from. You’ll have cuisines from all over the world to pick and everything looks so delicious you may actually have trouble choosing.
We’ll make it easy for you. Hit up Berek! Berek! for some of their Indonesian fare. Alternatively Sushi Kamon is a great option if you want something a little lighter. Manna’s burgers are pretty good too but you’ll be at this stall for the fried chicken.
If none of that takes your fancy, head upstairs to Plaza Khao Gaeng. That’s a Thai restaurant by Chef Luke Farrell. The food is excellent. They don’t sacrifice anything to cater to the tastes of people that might not like the bold flavours of heavy-handed use of spice.
The result is very very legit Thai cooking.

Maltby Street Market
Kind of like the Borough Street Market but with a little more room to breathe and browse, Maltby Street Market is a favourite of both locals and visitors.
We know it’s naughty to have favourites, but IOHO Maltby Street is pretty much the best street food market in London – it’s not too corporate, not too slick and the food is insanely good.
Our biggest recommendations are the steak frites at The Beefsteaks, the ridiculously decadent cheese toasties at The Cheese Truck and gyoza at Gyoza Guys.
PS, did I mention that the Bermondsey Beer Mile – packed with some of London’s best craft breweries (and gin distilleries) starts mere metres away from the market? Just in case you wanted to explore (take that as a big hint that you should go and explore).
