Spotify is launching a live event series with Drumsheds, and Skream & Benga are curating the first one: 26 acts across three rooms on Saturday 17 October, with tickets on general sale at 1pm on Wednesday 2 September.
The series is called DIA/LOG, it has no fixed genre, and every edition will be held at Drumsheds in Tottenham. The pitch is that each night gets built around artists whose sound or history has something to say, and around the idea that genres are always in conversation with each other. Which is a lot of words for a good, simple thing: put the originators, their peers and the people coming up next in the same building on the same night.
Edition one is dubstep and UK bass, and Skream & Benga have curated it themselves.
The line-up
Twenty-six names so far, with more promised. The heavyweight end runs Skream & Benga alongside long-term collaborators Plastician, Sir Spyro and D Double E, plus LTJ Bukem, SBTRKT, Jammer, Special Request, MJ Cole and Flava D, which pulls in jungle, garage, grime and drum and bass rather than keeping it to one lane.
The new generation is where the curation gets interesting: Nitepunk, Jakes, Skalah, EMA, Carré, Dangermami, Rohaan, Bad Behli, GЯEG, Surusinghe and Emily Makis, all working somewhere in the messier edges of bass music. Pangaea, Formella, Jaz Imsky, Sensu and Yungfya complete the bill.
Skream & Benga close it out with a set tracking their own route from Croydon to now. Surprises, special guests and MCs are all promised, which is the sort of thing press releases always say and, in this case, is probably true.
Why Skream & Benga
They were making dubstep in Croydon before it had a name that stuck, cutting their teeth at FWD>> when the entire scene could fit inside Big Apple Records on Surrey Street. Two decades on, most of the artists carrying UK bass grew up on their records, which is exactly the kind of lineage a night like this is built to make visible.
We’re going back2thefuture with DIA/LOG. The story of Skream & Benga isn’t just about looking back at what we’ve done or celebrating where dubstep came from, it’s about recognising how far the culture has travelled, where it’s grown to, and where it’s going to next. It’s about honouring the past while keeping our eyes to the future, and who has been with us on that journey.

The venue
Drumsheds is the old IKEA in Tottenham, 608,000 square feet of warehouse that Broadwick, the team behind Printworks, turned into a 15,000-capacity venue. Three distinct spaces means DIA/LOG can run a big room and two smaller, sweatier ones at once, which is the whole point of a bill this wide. If you have never been, the scale takes a minute to adjust to.

The London x London Take: streaming platforms putting on club nights usually produces something that feels like a brand activation with a DJ booth in it. This doesn’t read that way, mostly because Skream & Benga have picked the bill and it is far too deep and far too weird in the second half to be a marketing exercise. Bad Behli and GЯEG next to LTJ Bukem is a real curatorial decision, not a focus group. Go for the small rooms.
