The Best Indoor and Outdoor Skiing in & Near London

Skieasy

Barnes Bridge

If you’re new to skiing (or just not that confident yet), Skieasy is an excellent place to start. The staff only offer private sessions, which is great for beginners and those who fancy having the slopes to themselves.

There’s no need to stress about equipment when you visit Skieasy for a session. Everything you need for skiing and snowboarding – from helmets to boots – is provided. All you have to worry about is staying upright.

The best thing about this London indoor skiing centre is its revolving dry ski slope. This can be adjusted to suit your needs and ability and gives you a lot more control on the slopes.

The Snow Centre

Hemel Hempstead

Fancy skiing down an indoor real snow slope? Yup, same.

The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead is London’s closest real indoor snow slope. You’ll definitely have lots of fun at this indoor ski slope near London. Better yet, equipment is included with every ski session so that you can ski down the huge 160m main slope with ease.

It’s the largest indoor slope in the UK, so you’re sure to improve your skills here in no time.

Skiers of all abilities can book on to group or private lessons at The Snow Centre. If you book a 1-to-1 session you’ll have an expert instructor all to yourself, and the session can also be tailored just to suit your ski needs.

Booking onto an adult group lesson will see you being treated to a free drink in the lodge after your session whilst your instructor gives you some feedback.

Snozone

Milton Keynes

Snozone is a ski centre that you absolutely must visit.

No matter your skiing ability, there’s a place on the slopes for you at Snozone. You can even learn to ski at Snozone by booking one of the beginner-day courses where you’ll be guided through the basic skills and introduced to the steeper parts of the slopes.

If you’re already a whizz on the slopes, you can level up your skills with a lift pass. But be warned: You’ll need to be able to already link turns, control your speed and use a button lift and stop safely.

Snozone offers a large variety of day passes where you can learn new skills with expert coaches and become more confident on the slopes. And, after a long, hard day on the slopes, head to the Alpine Kitchen for some much-needed coffee, snacks and drinks.

Brentwood Park

Brentwood

Brentwood Park Ski & Snowboard Centre is a great place to practise your skills on an outdoor slope. The park also overlooks 54 acres of beautiful woodland, so you can ski with a view – a bit more like the real deal.

Private lessons last for one hour and are available to those aged four and upwards. During these sessions, you’ll get one-on-one time with an expert to help you focus on the areas you need development in and even get to learn some new skills too.

There’s also an adult course to join. This is where you’ll enjoy four hours of fun on the slopes with other skiers of a similar level – though it’s only available to those over 16 years.

Gosling Ski and Snowboard

Welwyn Garden City

Located just outside of London, Gosling Ski and Snowboard is an outdoor ski centre boasting activities for all ages and levels.

Adult group sessions are best for those who already know how to use the drag lift and are mostly looking to improve their skills. The private lessons here are best if you need to develop your skills quickly, since the focus of the session will be entirely on you.

If you’re looking for a bit of fun, you need to book yourself on to the fun rings session.

What’s that, we hear you ask? It consists of sitting in a rubber ring with a hard plastic base and sliding really fast down the ski slope. That sounds like a bit of us.

Sandown Sports & Ski

Surrey

Based in Esher Hill in Surrey, Sandown Sports & Ski overlooks Sandown Park Racecourse – and you’ll be treated to a London skyline view too as you zip down the slopes.

If you’re a beginner, then Sandown Sports & Ski is a great place to learn. There are junior and adult courses to book onto; each of which is led by an expert instructor and designed to develop your ski skills in a fun and engaging way.

You can also host ski parties at this centre – whether it’s as a birthday party, or just because you fancy it.

At the centre, you can also hang out in the picnic area after skiing, but obviously, you’d need to remember to pack your picnic to do that.

The Guildford Ski Slope

Guildford

The Guildford Ski Slope is an outdoor skiing venue that’s good for both learning to ski and for having lots of fun on the slopes.

If you’ve never skied before, join the beginner’s session where you’ll learn everything from how to clip your boots to the basics on the slopes.

You can also book a ski session for just you and your mates here. Ideally, you would need to be of the same level of ability – these sessions can be a lot of fun until it all gets a bit competitive.

Skiing at The Guildford Ski Slope will see you ski holiday ready in no time, we promise.

Practical Tips for Tackling London’s Ski Slopes

  • Check if you need to book online before you visit – you don’t want to turn up in full gear only to be turned away.
  • If you’re not sure of your ski ability, you can ask the instructors to help you with this before deciding which session to book.
